Charlie’s Story ❤️

Charlie is a child with a heart of gold and a natural desire to give back to others.

Her journey of helping people started with small acts of kindness, but each experience taught her something bigger about compassion, generosity, and caring for her community.

For her birthday last year, Charlie decided that instead of keeping all of her birthday money for herself, she wanted to use it to help someone else. She went to Safeway and used her birthday money to buy food for a couple experiencing homelessness.

That experience stayed with her.

One day, while walking her dog in her neighborhood, Charlie saw a family sleeping in a park. She became emotional and started to cry because she could not understand why a family did not have a home.

Charlie asked her mother, “What can I do to help them?”

She reached into her own pocket and gave her mother the money she had with her, asking her to give it to the family.

It wasn't a lot of money.

But it was what Charlie had, and she wanted to give it.

That moment showed something special about Charlie: she doesn't believe she needs to have a lot in order to make a difference. She simply sees someone who needs help and asks, “What can I do?”

Charlie has also helped her mother prepare meals for the Lasagna Love program and has helped create birthday celebrations for the organization. Giving, serving, and making others feel cared for have become important parts of who she is.

Now, Charlie is taking another step of faith with the support of her family.

She is starting Charlie’s Blanket Closet, a community project created to provide warmth, comfort, and essential items to people and families experiencing homelessness or going through difficult times.

Charlie knows that one blanket may not solve every problem. One pair of socks may not change someone's circumstances. But she also knows that a small act of kindness can remind someone that they are seen, they are cared for, and they are not forgotten.

With the help of her family and her community, Charlie hopes to collect blankets, hats, gloves, socks, and travel-size toiletries for people who need them.

This is more than a donation drive.

It is a little girl following her heart.

It is a family choosing to serve.

And it is a reminder that you don't have to be grown, wealthy, or have a lot to give to make a difference.

Sometimes, you simply give what you have.

One blanket.
One person.
One act of kindness at a time.

This is Charlie’s mission.
